Amish Monkey Bread

This is a little Heaven in a pan.
Plan on eating at least half the pan...No seriously...

You will need the following:

For the bread:
1 cup of Amish bread starter
4 cups all purpose flour
1 cup milk
3 Tablespoons sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup shortening
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 nuts (optional)

Cinnamon topping mixture:
2 cups dark brown sugar
1 cup melted butter
2 tablespoons groud cinnamon

Mix together in a separate bowl.

Preheat oven to 350 farenheight.

Place bread ingredients into mixer bowl one at a time. Add kneading attachment once mixed. Knead until its no longer sticky. I usually add a little bit more flour to mine.

Add some cinnamon mixture to the bottom of the bundt pan. Save the rest for the end.

Pull apart your dough into small balls and dust with a little flour. I try to get at least 30, just try to think bite sized pieces. Stack them evenly throughout the pan.

One you have them all in the pan pour the rest of the cinnamon mixture over top.

Pop into the oven for 30-35 minutes

Let it cool for a few minutes. Place a large plate on the pan. Flip bundt pan onto plate. There now you have an amazing recipe.

Amish Friendship Bread Starter

This is for the starter. You will need this starter to make your delicious breads, to share with others or to continue on for an endless batch. This takes 10 days. Sounds weird I know, BUT PLEASE trust me, this will be one thing we always have on hand. One thing I was told is to NOT use metal utensils or lids with this recipe. Some think it affects the yeast growth. I do follow this rule.

You can easily start with a gallon zip bag which I did my first time.
Now that I am making it regularly I am using a large jar. No smaller than a quart. I also use a peanut butter jar lid. Did you know they fit canning jars? Yep. They do!

On the bag you can draw 10 squares to check off which ever day it is so you can keep track. Also write the date 10 days out so you know what day is give and bake day!!

Are you ready for this?

To start all you need is:

**1cup flour
**1 cup sugar
**1 cup milk

Day one: **Add ingredients to bag
Day two: Mush Bag
Day three: Mush Bag
Day four: Mush Bag
Day five: Mush Bag
Day six: **Add ingredients to bag
Day seven: Mush Bag
Day eight: Mush Bag
Day nine: Mush Bag
Day ten: Give a cup or bake day!!!

Start over-
With just 1 cup of reserved starter to keep it going just start with day one after you add your new **ingredients.

Look out for yummy amish bread  recipes that use the starter.

Bundt Banana Bread

So, we recently moved to a little slice of heaven in the middle of nowhere and we are so happy. I am all about change and how we all need it at times. The last year has been a very crazy one, but I have really come to see what God has done for us. I also just realized how long its been since I have last made a post and how I really want to start them up again. This time bigger and better.

Now, I could keep rambling or I could share my newest recipe with you. Promise to catch up on the land and its beauty later!

Here is the recipe:

Bundt Banana Bread

2 cups of flour
 1 cup of oats
 1/2 cup of sugar
1/4 unsalted butter room temperature
 2 teaspoons of baking soda
 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
 1/2  teaspoon of salt
1 1/2 cup buttermilk***
       3 bananas

**(make your own or use 1 cup heavy cream and 1/2 cup water)

Mix first four ingredients until butter is well distributed.
Add rest of ingredients in mixer until just evenly mixed. Do not over do it.

Place in bundt pan and bake 350 for 40-50 minutes.

I always scrape my pan edges with a spatula when it has cooled then I will flip over onto a plate and slice.

Blessings
JLM

Wool diaper covers

Well I suggest having more then one child. The reason, you learn so much more with each child. I hardly cloth diapered my oldest and exclusively cloth diaper my third. Recently I have started sewing wool covers for him.

Wool is wonderful!

It needs washed only when stinky or soiled with poo, usually one wash for two weeks.

It absorbs wetness but feels dry on skin.

It's all natural.

Wool sweater can usually be found inexpensively. Making your own cover is easy!
